Interaction Concepts
MOMA’s Exhibit, Elastic Mind, which was in NYC in 2008, is a great source of concepts in interaction. It’s something you can only take in a bit at a time before your brain feels completely full! The interface of the web site itself is fantastic, providing you several ways to dive into each project and get a better sense of the concept being explored. It’s definitely worth the bookmark, even if you had the pleasure of seeing it in person.
Similarly, lists like 20 Cool Interaction Design Concepts (via interactiondesignblog) feature great innovative approaches to interaction. Reviewing them online doesn’t do them justice I’m sure, but it’s not everyday you get to see these or visit an exhibit featuring concepts you can experience.
There are videos for some of these concepts, be sure to check them out.

In the living room category, a great example is the Sony Remote Control by Jason Roebuck which combines the gesture interaction with the TV set with the aesthetics of common home environment.

Same genre another concept: Buttonless Remote Control by Joris van Gelder. Again, gestures are capturing the desired action.

Flicflex by Chris Woebken explores use of gestures in place of keyboard commands. Photo manipulation and viewing is used an example.
Some of these ideas are already making it into the consumer market. How viable do you think each might be? Here are a few that caught my attention. Do you see one of them as more practical then others?
