Random things that don't suck!

So Many Plugins, So Little Time…

Several plugins have been added to this blog recently, among them: Google Analytics, Google Sitemap Generator, Polldaddy, All in One SEO Pack, WP Touch and even a twitter Updater plugin. Which I probably should monitor as I have such high level of… dislike for twitter. Don’t quite know how to use all of this yet off course. Configuration of some of these add-ons tend to be fairly labor intensive, so it should keep me occupied for a while. So much for sleep!

Instant gratification came from WP Touch, which made this blog iPhone and iPod Touch ready. It needs to be customized still, but it’s really cool to get this content into the mobile environment so quickly. Stay tuned for that one.

The other that one that seems most interesting and extensive, is IntenseDebate. Which promises to enhance the commenting portion of your blog. It includes threading, comment voting and several other tie-ins. For example, Polldaddy and YouTube seem to be offered so that a commenter can reply with richer feedback. This obviously can be much more engaging and generate further discussion. It does however looks a little messy at first. Seems like lots of clutter with the many labels, some from Wordpress and others added in by IntenseDebate. But should be able to clean it up with some customization.

Now if we only had lots of comments here to test it out…

  1. So in testing intensedebate, I'm finding it pretty useful.

  2. hmmm. There is lots of fluff around the comments which i haven't figured out how to limit. At the time of this comment, I'm still trying to see how some of the meta info can be turned off or tweaked. I wonder if the styles can be at all controlled to match the site design. Not that the design is entirely finished! We have a long way to go still to revive this blog into something useful.

  3. how many levels can i go to????
