Mag+ is a great demonstration of publishing concepts which seem like have been ‘almost here’ for such along time.
They really have the scrolling simplified for a new magazine-like experience. Similar to the iphone app’s detail listing view that works on 2 dimensions. There are lots of other details as well, all trying to improve on the page flip concept that is mimics the print world too much.
